Non-Shared Hosting Showcases
The non-shared hosting solutions normally come in three flavors, Managed, Dedicated Server, and CoLocation.
Managed Hosting is when your account is hosted on a server or servers and the Host takes care of all of the technical details. With Managed Hosting support is included in the monthly bill and often times it is not cheap.
Dedicated Server Hosting is when you rent a server from a Host and do all of the administration yourself. Support is usually at a minimum. Often times you can save money on the extra monthly support costs by going to Dedicated. Dedicated Server Hosting is normally reserved for experienced power users.
Colocation Hosting is when you build the server and install the software yourself. You then deliver your server to the Host and they hook it up to their network and power grid. In this arrangement, you are paying for the network, the facilities, and the power. However, the upfront costs might be more, the monthly costs will generally be a lot less.

What To Look For:
When choosing a Managed Host try to find a Host who gives you maximum uptime, responsive and technically proficient support, and a server that can run fast even under the "worse" conditions.
When looking for a Dedicated Server Host check the speed of their network, the quality of their facilities, and the cost of their servers. Also take notes of any free support they give.
When choosing a Colo Host make sure you have a thorough knowledge of both their facilities and their protocol when it comes to handling emergency situations.
